South Africa struck the highest score in World Cup history as their powerful batting unit put Sri Lanka to the sword in Delhi.<\/p>\n
The 428 for five included hundreds for Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markham – the latter from a World Cup record 49 balls.<\/p>\n
Temba Bavuma\u2019s team\u2019s total bettered the 417 for six made by Australia against Afghanistan in Perth eight years ago.<\/p>\n
The Proteas have now managed five of the top 10 scores in one-day international cricket.<\/p>\n
Sri Lanka lost match-winning leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga through injury on the eve of the tournament.<\/p>\n

While De Kock and Van der Dussen made rapid hundreds, it was Markham who impressed the most with 106.<\/p>\n
South Africa face Australia in the Cricket World Cup next as they take to the field onm Thursday before playing the Netherlands the following Tuesday.<\/p>\n
They will face England on October 21st in what could prove to be one of the matches of the tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n
