Cody Gakpo returned to training with the Liverpool squad on Thursday in a welcome boost for Jurgen Klopp ahead of this weekend’s Merseyside derby.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The in-form forward missed the last two matches and was absent from the Netherlands’ international break after sustaining a knee injury against Tottenham on September 30.<\/p>\n
He has found the net in three of his last four games for the Reds but was hauled off at half-time in the controversial 2-1 loss to Spurs, having equalised just before the break.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old could be in contention for Saturday’s Anfield showdown against Everton and was involved in ball work at Liverpool’s AXA training complex.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After failing to score in his first six outings for the club last season, Gakpo has developed into a trusted player for Klopp and has had joy in a central role.\u00a0<\/p>\n

All four had featured for their respective countries in the South American World Cup qualifiers less than 36 hours earlier.<\/p>\n
Liverpool look revitalised after a summer transfer window shake-up and until Spurs intervened they were unbeaten since April 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They pose a fearsome challenge for Everton, who languish 16th in the table.<\/p>\n
However, Sean Dyche’s Toffees have won two of their last three and have benefitted from the return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.<\/p>\n
