Charles Leclerc was left embarrassed ahead of the United States Grand Prix after forgetting that Sunday’s race will mark his 100th in Ferrari colours. The Monegasque driver was therefore left without a commemorative helmet design for the occasion.

Leclerc joined up with Ferrari back in 2019, making his debut at the Australian Grand Prix after impressing the entire paddock with his performances up against Marcus Ericsson in a stellar rookie campaign with Alfa Romeo Sauber. However, there will be no commemorative design in Austin this weekend.

Instead, the 26-year-old will be donning an American football-inspired design for the latest outing at the Circuit of the Americas with an all-green base and pitch markings etched into the sides of the helmet. On top of the new lid are are words “touchdown in Austin”.

Writing on his social media platforms, Leclerc confessed: “I forgot this was my 100th GP with @scuderiaferrari, so this special helmet design doesn’t make sense but it’s beautiful. Look at that greeeeeeen.”
