Coincidentally, Shearer scored England&#8217;s first goal in the round of 16 clash with the South American side.<\/p>\n<p>In typical England fashion, they would go on to lose on penalties, with many blaming Beckham for the defeat.<\/p>\n<p>However, many fans may not know that Shearer actually got Simeone&#8217;s shirt from the game and opted to keep it.<\/p>\n<p>On the recent episode of The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer revealed to Gary Lineker and Micah Richards that he nearly threw the iconic shirt away.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/20\/16\/76808115-0-image-a-9_1697816720286.jpg\" height=\"322\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Alan Shearer revealed he once nearly threw Diego Simeone&#8217;s Argentina shirt away<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/20\/16\/76808117-0-image-a-8_1697816714933.jpg\" height=\"458\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Simeone&#8217;s (right) shirt was from the famous World Cup clash between England and Argentina in 1998<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;ve actually got Simeone&#8217;s shirt from that game,&#8217; said Shearer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I was moving house a couple of years ago and I said to my son, &#8216;I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s in the loft but I can&#8217;t get up there now, you&#8217;re going to have to go up there for me&#8217;, and he came down with two black bin bags full of old tops.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Shearer, who scored 30 goals in 63 games for his country, revealed he was frustrated and told his son to throw the jersey away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I said, &#8216;I&#8217;m just going to chuck them&#8217;, because I was frustrated, &#8216;just chuck them in a skip, I don&#8217;t want them&#8217;.
