Anthony Martial has been linked with a Manchester United exit for almost half his eight-year career at Old Trafford, having struggled to realise his meteoric potential as a £36million teenager. He has also been linked with a departure in the January transfer window, but any move looks set to wait until next summer.

Martial arrived in Manchester in 2015 as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards, having won the Golden Boy award in the same year.

But persistent injury woes have ultimately derailed his development across the past decade, scoring 89 goals in 308 United appearances.

He has been linked with a parting of the ways under Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and now Erik ten Hag.

Rasmus Hojlund’s £72m summer arrival, pushing Martial down the pecking order, intensified expectations that the Frenchman’s Old Trafford career was nearing an end.

However, Ten Hag could hand him the opportunity to fight for his future in M16 beyond the winter transfer window.

According to GiveMeSport, Ten Hag is convinced Martial can play a significant role this season if United face as congested a fixture schedule as their 62-game 2022/23 season.
