Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Argentine midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez. Alexis Mac Allister has previously given a glowing review of the player and may have alerted Jurgen Klopp to his talent.

Klopp oversaw a major overhaul of his midfield in the summer transfer window. He allowed five players to leave the club and brought in four to replace them.

Mac Allister was the first player through the door, completing his move from Brighton shortly after the end of last season. Liverpool took advantage of a clause in his contract to sign him for just £35million.

He has had a strong start to his career at Anfield, starting all nine Premier League matches to date. Klopp is clearly a big fan of Mac Allister as a player but may also be willing to listen to his transfer recommendations.

AC Milan and Benfica are also named as admirers of the Boca Juniors star.

Fernandez came through the ranks at Boca having first joined as a youngster in 2012. He has made 43 first-team appearances, while also enjoying a loan spell at fellow Argentine side Tigre.

He played for the Argentina under-17 but is yet to represent his country at a higher level. But despite his relative lack of experience, Mac Allister has clearly seen enough.

Speaking in January, while still at Brighton, Mac Allister compared his style of play to Fernandez. And he said he would recommend the player to Brighton if they asked him about promising Argentine youngsters.
