For 74 minutes, Harry Kane was relatively quiet. You probably know how the rest of this report will read.

Bayern Munich’s match-winner. Again. Thomas Tuchel may have accepted leaving Turkey with a point.

His No 9 was having none of it; first he struck the German side’s decisive second goal before putting his team’s third on a plate for Jamal Musiala, who scored in the 79th minute to kill off galant Galatasary.

Kane’s impact for the German champions has been profound; this the latest chapter in one of the most unforgettable ‘hit the ground running’ stories in recent memory.

Eleven goals in 12 matches since arriving for Tottenham is some return.

Harry Kane scored and registered an assist for Bayern Munich in their 3-1 win over Galatasaray

The England captain notched his 11th goal in 12 matches since joining the Bundesliga giants

He later set up Jamal Musiala to secure the victory for Bayern in Istanbul to continue his side’s perfect start in the Champions League

In contrast, the night won’t be so memorable for Wilfried Zaha. His first ever Champions League start at Manchester United went like a dream, the former Crystal Palace scoring at Old Trafford in his side’s shock victory.

Here against Bayern, he and his side were dealt a ruthless lesson in European smash-and-grabs.

Because for much of this game, Galatasaray were the superior force.

But this is exactly what elite clubs like Bayern do. They ride the storm, take the blows – and leave with the win.

Bayern’s 100 percent start to their Champions League campaign will see them, barring an almighty capitulation, through to the knock-out stages.

United, ahead of their clash against Copenhagen, would have believed that they can haul Galatasaray back.

Neither Kane nor Zaha made a lasting imprint in the first half; Kane starved of quality possession while Zaha fed of scraps out on Galatasaray’s left.

Munich took an eight minute lead to silence the deafening noise of the notorious Turkish crowd, Kingsley Coman slotting past Fernando Muslera following Leroy Sane’s pass.

Credit to the home side, though. They are made of stern stuff nowadays; Erik ten Hag can vouch for that.

Kerem Aktürkoğlu forced Sven Ulreich into an excellent save with an eye-catching acrobatic effort less than two minutes after Coman’s opener before Mauro Icardi missed a virtual open goal moments later.

Zaha was playing his part; his chasing down of a lost cause to save his side from conceding a goal kick drew huge cheers from supporters and his manager Okan Burak.

Eventually, the host’s pulled level, Icardi’s cheeky Panenka penalty deceiving Ulreich in the 30th minute after the Italian was initially fouled by Joshua Kimmich.

It proved to be a frustrating night for former Crystal Palace man Wilfried Zaha against Bayern

Kingsley Coman put Bayern ahead after only eight minutes, as he slotted home a Leroy Sane pass to silence the home crowd

Galatasaray drew level before half-time, equalising through a Mauro Icardi penalty

Zaha was first on the scene to embrace his team-mate, there’d have been more of the same if Icardi had taken an excellent chance in first half stoppage time.

The only real opportunity Kane had to flex his muscles were in the 43rd minute when his through ball into Sane’s path should have culminated in Bayern retaking the lead.

The second half nearly started almost identically to the first; but this time Sane failed to apply the sort of finish Coman earlier provided.

Zaha was moved out to the opposite flank by Buruk as Galatasaray struggled to replicate their first half fluency.

Indeed, the impression that Bayern had gears to shift through was becoming increasingly apparent.

Galatasaray were able to limit Kane to few opportunities in an impressive first half display

However, they were unable to contain him once Bayern shifted through the gears in the second half as he found the net from a Coman assist

Kane later set up Musiala to confirm Bayern’s third win from three group stage matches

Sane missed another opportunity in the 63rd minute after connecting with Musiala before Kane took control.

He owed his goal to the brilliance of Coman, who was having a super game down Bayern’s right.

The vision and composure Kane showed to set-up Musiala’s goal that settled the night was exactly why Bayern have agreed to pay as much as they did for England’s captain.

By the end of the night both Kane and Zaha had been substituted; one was far happier than the other.
