Andre Onana saved a stoppage-time penalty as Manchester United claimed a dramatic victory on the night Old Trafford paid homage to Sir Bobby Charlton.<\/p>\n
Onana\u2019s save from Jordan Larsson in the last moment of the game earned United a 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen and their first Champions League points in Group A after Harry Maguire headed Erik ten Hag\u2019s side in front.<\/p>\n
Maguire and Onana have both come under fire this season and redemption came on a night that began with a solemn minute\u2019s silence for club legend Charlton, who passed away on Saturday, and ended in scenes of delirium.<\/p>\n
\u2018It was meant to be,\u2019 said Maguire. \u2018We were meant to win the game. A magnificent save and a win dedicated to Sir Bobby and his family.<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s been a tough week for us, losing someone like Sir Bobby. It affects the club and the dressing-room. But we\u2019re really pleased we could get the win.\u2019<\/p>\n

Maguire has been booed by both United and England fans on occasions, but supporters were singing his name at the end.<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s amazing,\u2019 he added. \u2018When you are not on your game it gets picked up, but I am really proud how I have acted over this six to 12 months.<\/p>\n

United were also grateful to underfire goalkeeper Andre Onana after he saved a late Copenhagen penalty<\/p>\n

Maguire’s United career had looked to be over in the Summer after he lost his place in Ten Hag’s team<\/p>\n
‘I have been given an opportunity and I want to help the team and get the club back to where it should be.\u2019<\/p>\n
Onana was criticised for his performances in the Champions League defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, but stepped up to save his team at the crucial moment.<\/p>\n
Both Ten Hag and Copenhagen boss Jacob Neestrup said they were unaware that Alejandro Garnacho scuffed up the penalty spot before Larsson \u2013 the son of former United striker Henrik \u2013 stepped up to take the kick.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019m just doing my job,\u2019 said Onana. \u2018We are Manchester United. We are a big club, big players. It’s just a matter of time, now we have to continue like this. I have no doubt we will make it.\u2019<\/p>\n
