{"id":294445,"date":"2023-10-26T12:26:11","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T12:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=294445"},"modified":"2023-10-26T12:26:11","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T12:26:11","slug":"fans-slam-awful-and-embarrassing-england-after-world-cup-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/%d1%81ricket\/fans-slam-awful-and-embarrassing-england-after-world-cup-collapse\/","title":{"rendered":"Fans slam &apos;AWFUL&apos; and &apos;EMBARRASSING&apos; England after World Cup collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Fans slam &#8216;AWFUL&#8217; and &#8216;EMBARRASSING&#8217; England, as Jos Buttler&#8217;s side collapse to 156 all out against Sri Lanka to leave their World Cup hopes in tatters<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>England have lost three of their first four games at the Cricket World Cup<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Needing a win against Sri Lanka, they collapsed with the bat in Bangalore<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fans have slammed the team for their &#8217;embarrassing&#8217; performance\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>England&#8217;s cricketers have been slammed on social media by supporters after another abysmal showing with the bat against Sri Lanka at the Cricket World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Playing in their fifth game in the tournament, Jos Buttler&#8217;s men entered the match knowing they needed a win after losing three of their previous four games.<\/p>\n<p>But, after dire batting displays against Afghanistan and South Africa, England collapsed once more in Bangalore as they were bowled out for 156.<\/p>\n<p>Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan had got the defending champions off to a solid start as they put on 45 for the first wicket, but when the latter edged behind, England fell apart.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Root\u00a0was run out after a mix-up in the middle, Bairstow tamely chipped to mid-on, before Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes also came and went having hardly troubled the scorers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/12\/77028975-12675301-image-a-73_1698319550465.jpg\" height=\"417\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Joe Root was run out after a mix-up with Jonny Bairstow to spark a batting collapse\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/12\/77028299-12675301-image-a-51_1698318428728.jpg\" height=\"408\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jos Buttler failed with the bat again, and his team now look to be heading out of the World Cup<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/12\/77028359-12675301-image-a-52_1698318481159.jpg\" height=\"227\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/12\/77028349-12675301-image-a-53_1698318487493.jpg\" height=\"148\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/12\/77028351-12675301-image-a-54_1698318496478.jpg\" height=\"144\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ben Stokes\u00a0put up some resistance with a gritty 43, but he was then caught in the deep, with Adil Rashid then getting run out at the non-striker&#8217;s end shortly afterwards following a major lapse in concentration to leave England 147 for nine.<\/p>\n<p>David Willey and Mark Wood took England beyond 150, but the latter was stumped after charging down the wicket to end the side&#8217;s misery with the bat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>England&#8217;s World Cup hopes are now hanging by the slimmest of threads, and fans have been left bitterly disappointed by the performances the team have mustered up in India.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;England cricket are bloody awful,&#8217; one fan posted on X, summing up the feelings of supporters around the country.<\/p>\n<p>Another fan suggested England were looking to finish the tournament early, although they will have no such luck as they still have four games left to play after today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Are England trying to get an earlier flight home or something? This is awful&#8230;&#8217; they wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Another fan simply couldn&#8217;t believe what they were watching, and hit out at Livingstone after he unsuccessfully reviewed an lbw call against him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Utterly embarrassing cricket from England, and what an awful review from Livingstone. Changes need to be made, everyone is off form really,&#8217; they added.<\/p>\n<p>Former Test captain Root recently suggested England should prioritise playing more one-day cricket domestically by getting rid of the T20 Blast.<\/p>\n<p>One supporter had a different idea, as they called for drastic changes to get the country&#8217;s 50-over cricket back on track.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;@ECB_cricket quite possibly the worst England side I have known in my adult life. Please ditch the hundred and make 50 over cricket a priority.
