Former New Zealand international Sonny Bill Williams believes that a boxing camp is harder than a rugby pre-season.

The former World Cup winner has also fought professional in boxing, holding a 9-1 record.

The Croqued Monsieurs dropped in on Williams as part of their alternative Rugby World Cup diary, as the tournament reaches its conclusion.

Explaining why boxing training is more difficult, he said: ‘Why? Because I grew up playing rugby league so it was second nature. Boxing, I didn’t grow up doing it but there was a few fisticuffs in the school yard.

‘What’s more hard, a blind-side tackle or a body shot from Tyson Fury? Well I admit I copped a few from Tyson and they were pretty bad so I’ve had to man up.

‘I had to man up a few times on the field but I definitely had to man up next to the heavyweight champion of the world.’

He also named his four top heavyweights, naming the Gypsy King, along with Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
