Saturday’s defeat to the Championship leaders leaves QPR sitting in 23rd – six points off safety

Ainsworth, who had been at the helm since his appointment in February, was unable to secure victory in only five out of the 28 games he managed, with the team now enduring a six-game losing streak, including Saturday’s defeat to Leicester.

Assistant boss Richard Dobson will also depart the club. Currently, QPR sits in 23rd position in the league.

Chief executive Lee Hoos acknowledged the challenge of such a decision, especially given the personal and professional regard for Gareth and Richard.

He mentioned that many fans had hoped for Ainsworth’s success, reflecting the widespread affection for him within the QPR community.

Hoos explained: ‘Unfortunately, results this season haven’t gone the way we all wanted, and we feel a change is necessary.’
