Gary Neville has dismissed Erik ten Hag’s claim that Manchester United have played ‘very good’ in last three matches against Man City.<\/p>\n
The Reds were outclassed in Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford after losing 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley in June.<\/p>\n
But the Red Devils did beat City 2-1 at home last January.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Asked if they were catching Manchester City in terms of style and points, Ten Hag said: \u2018We played three times this year against City and we played very good in all those games.<\/p>\n
\u2018Today, the first half was good. We made it difficult for them and the chances were similar but then they got the first goal and the second half was not the way we had to act. I can accept that. But over three games we played very well against them.\u2019<\/p>\n

But Neville dismissed the upbeat claim of the Dutchman after side were handed a tough lesson by their bitter rivals.<\/p>\n
He told Sky Sports: ‘The performances of Manchester United against Manchester City have not been good.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I was at the cup final sat with 90,000 other people. The performance was not good. That performance in the second half today was appalling.’<\/p>\n
The eyes of the footballing world were on Old Trafford as the neighbours met in the 191st Manchester derby and first since Pep Guardiola’s men matched their 1999 treble triumph.<\/p>\n
Erling Haaland scored a spot-kick and unmarked header before playing in Phil Foden to wrap up 3-0 victory, yet City’s dominance was far greater than the scoreline suggests.<\/p>\n
It was an abrupt end to an unconvincing three-match winning run in all competitions for Erik ten Hag’s United, who have now lost five of their 10 opening Premier League games.<\/p>\n
