Hopefully be the catalyst for change. Sometimes you have to eat s*** for others to eat caviar further down the track.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Jones had plenty of supporters along those lines, with several fans maintaining Rugby Australia bears the brunt of the blame for the state of the sport down under.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;RA just needed a fall-guy\u2026..and Eddie turned out to be it,&#8217; one posted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So easy to blame Eddie he never had a chance, he tried to blood some young fellas that&#8217;s about it.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/00\/77158585-12686405-image-a-5_1698624652374.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former Wallabies coach Alan Jones has defended Eddie Jones while lashing the governing body<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/00\/77158597-12686405-image-a-6_1698624660730.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The glory days of Australian rugby when a star-studded Wallabies side claimed the 1999 Rugby World Cup<\/p>\n<p>Jones has been backed by former coach Alan Jones, who said the exiting Wallabies boss had been given an impossible task by those responsible for the decline of Australian rugby.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So Eddie Jones is gone, thrown under the bus by the person who, without doing any homework, made a &#8216;Captain&#8217;s Pick&#8217; to choose Jones in the first place,&#8217; he posted on social media.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;That person is [Hamish] McLennan, the Chairman of Rugby Australia, who should be the first to go.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>However, MailSport columnist and England&#8217;s 2003 World Cup-winning coach Sir Clive Woodward torched Jones for comparing coaching the Wallabies to &#8216;eating s**t&#8217; in his comments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;What a pathetic thing to say,&#8217; Woodward said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Every Australian I have spoken with is just shaking their head over the whole situation. But this outburst and especially Jones&#8217; language has just poured oil on the flames.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It is really embarrassing for Rugby Australia.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/00\/77158481-12686405-image-a-7_1698624681472.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Australian Rugby Union Hamish McLennan is also coming under fire<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/00\/77158533-12686405-image-a-4_1698624641825.jpg\" height=\"465\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former Wallabies flyer Tim Horan (pictured running the ball at the 1991 World Cup) has been vocal about the state of Australian rugby and wants to see accountability at the top<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/00\/77158511-12686405-image-a-8_1698624688309.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Diehard Australian rugby supporters who travelled to France for the World Cup (pictured) are hoping for better days ahead<\/p>\n<p>While Jones has worn the brunt of criticism for the Wallabies poor run, Rugby Australia&#8217;s financial woes have been well documented.<\/p>\n<p>It dates back to 2019 when the governing body was forced to shell out an $8million payout to end the bitter legal stoush with former fullback Israel Folau\u00a0over his controversial sacking.<\/p>\n<p>Covid lockdowns would then ravage the Super Rugby competition, with South Africa and Argentina sensationally walking away from the league.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the coffers being drained, Rugby Australia shelled out $1.6million a year for NRL\u00a0talent Joseph Sua&#8217;ali&#8217;i from 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Back in August, former Wallaby Tim Horan said he believed\u00a0 two Australian clubs are in dire financial straits\/<\/p>\n<p>Another former Wallaby Stephen Hoiles declared that the Super Rugby model is fundamentally flawed, coinciding with the national body&#8217;s initiation of a &#8216;strategic reset&#8217;
