{"id":295009,"date":"2023-10-31T16:24:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T16:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=295009"},"modified":"2023-10-31T16:24:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T16:24:31","slug":"exclusive-eddie-hearn-says-he-felt-in-his-gut-that-tyson-fury-lost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/boxing\/exclusive-eddie-hearn-says-he-felt-in-his-gut-that-tyson-fury-lost\/","title":{"rendered":"EXCLUSIVE: Eddie Hearn says he &apos;felt in his gut&apos; that Tyson Fury LOST"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>EXCLUSIVE: Eddie Hearn says he &#8216;felt in his gut&#8217; that Tyson Fury LOST to Francis Ngannou in their &#8216;Battle of the Baddest&#8217; showdown on &#8216;The Hook&#8217;&#8230; and claims the fight has &#8216;devalued&#8217; his looming match-up with Oleksandr Usyk<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Gypsy King went the distance with Ngannou and won via split decision\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The distinguished performance of Ngannou could see him fight Anthony Joshua\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to Mail Sport&#8217;s new boxing podcast THE HOOK &#8211; with exclusive interviews\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eddie Hearn believes that Tyson Fury &#8216;lost&#8217; his high-profile clash with Francis Ngannou in Riyadh on Saturday evening, and shared his views on the fight with Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast &#8216;The Hook&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lineal heavyweight champion anticipated a demolition of the former UFC champion, but Ngannou came leaping out the gates to take the contest the full 10 rounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ngannou even managed to knock Fury to the canvas &#8211; but Fury was handed the victory by split-decision.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But in his first-ever fight, Ngannou acquitted himself well, with many earmarking fighters including Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua as potential future opponents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hearn himself labelled Fury&#8217;s performance &#8216;dreadful&#8217; and questioned which of the pair had &#8216;never fought before&#8217; on Saturday in Saudi Arabia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/15\/77227897-12693653-image-a-4_1698765261447.jpg\" height=\"468\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Tyson Fury won his showdown with Francis Ngannou by split decision in Riyadh on Saturday<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/15\/77220393-12693653-image-a-5_1698765267437.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>But the fighter struggled for large chunks of the contest, which the UFC star took to 10 rounds<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/15\/77218751-12693653-image-a-6_1698765271532.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ngannou also managed to knock Fury down after a run of blistering rounds &#8211; but the Gypsy King recovered nicely<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;B<span>efore the fight I gave Francis Ngannou zero chance of winning, like, on paper it&#8217;s just the most terrible mismatch,&#8217; Hearn said. &#8216;A guy who has never had a professional boxing match. And I think there was definitely an element of Tyson looking through him, he <\/span>wasn&#8217;t as well prepared<span>\u00a0as he should have been, but it was still an awful performance.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I feel a bit for Oleksandr Usyk because the Fury-Uysk fight is massively devalued to the point that Francis Ngannou should get his rematch,&#8217; he added. &#8216;I\u00a0felt (Ngannou) won the fight. When the final bell went, my gut feeling was he&#8217;s got this.&#8217;\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/15\/77220337-12693653-image-a-2_1698765242374.jpg\" height=\"397\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Hearn also stressed that he &#8216;felt&#8217; for Ngannou because\u00a0&#8216;if he would have got the final result on paper, it would have gone down as one of the greatest sporting victories. Forget\u00a0 boxing &#8211; in the history of sport. Forget Buster Douglas against Mike Tyson, forget Joshua-(Andy) Ruiz.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It was close, but if Fury had&#8217;ve dropped Ngannou and hurt him a couple of times, we would have said that Fury should have won the fight. But he didn&#8217;t really do anything.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Fury looked scared in the back end of the fight. Everytime they got in a clinch, he looked like he was getting flung around. It was a difficult fight in that no one really did a lot in the back end but &#8211; but because (Ngannou) dropped him and because he won those early two rounds, for me, he won the fight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;When the final bell went, I went &#8220;oh my God, he&#8217;s lost.&#8221; Everyone was messaging me saying &#8220;Fury&#8217;s just lost, Fury&#8217;s just lost&#8221;. And then, of course, it went to final score cards and he won.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Most people&#8217;s reaction was that Ngannou won the fight. I can&#8217;t believe it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Fury looked like the guy who&#8217;s never boxed before. It was amazing.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In voicing his opinion, Hearn joined Carl Froch, who called victory for the Gypsy King &#8216;corruption of the highest order&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/15\/77229511-12693653-image-a-6_1698767061323.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Hearn believes that Ngannou is due a rematch with the Gypsy King after narrowly losing<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/15\/77228099-12693653-image-a-8_1698765299895.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Matchroom promoter also suggested that the much-anticipated clash between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk had been &#8216;devalued&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Tyson Fury got beat.
