Fans went crazy over the ultimate F1 and football \u2018crossover\u2019 after qualifying at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on Friday.<\/p>\n
F1 world champion Max Verstappen celebrated his pole position for Sunday\u2019s Grand Prix with former Brazil striker Adriano to the delight of football fans everywhere. Verstappen took pole in a weather-hit Q3 which saw all drivers able to put just one flying lap in.<\/p>\n
The Dutchman was then awarded the tyre trophy for finishing on pole by the ex-Inter Milan hero who wore a Nerazzurri shirt whilst posing for pictures.<\/p>\n

Fans reacted to the celebrations on social media as one commented on Twitter: \u201cThat is some crossover\u201d. A second simply dubbed them \u201cthe goats\u201d.<\/p>\n
Adriano is a cult hero among the football gaming community after his rating on Pro Evolution Soccer 6 saw him giving the maximum of 99 shot power. A third fan wrote: \u201cOnly for the OG gamers\u2026\u2026He was a beast.\u201d While a fourth added: \u201cKids nowadays will never understand how dangerous Adriano\u2019s 99 shot power was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adriano was called upon to hand over the Pirelli tyre trophy to Verstappen after starring for Inter between 2004 and 2009 in the famous black and blue shirt that famously had the Pirelli shirt sponsor.<\/p>\n
The 48-time Brazil international left Inter in 2009 after scoring 74 goals in 177 games across two spells, winning the Serie A and Coppa Italia twice. He returned to his homeland over the winter break only to not come back and fail to sign a new contract with the club, seeing him rescind his contract with Inter in April before joining Flamengo in his home of Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n

Adriano later returned to Italy with Roma but only played eight times before returning home again at Corinthians. The Brazilian ended his career in 2014 before returning in two short spells at Athletico Paranaense and Miami United. \u2018The Emperor\u2019 won the Copa America with Brazil in 2004 where he won the Golden Ball in the tournament.<\/p>\n
