Novak Djokovic has once again reiterated his desire to break “all possible records” while taking a subtle dig at Rafael Nadal in the process after winning the Paris Masters title on Sunday. With Roger Federer now retired and Nadal set to hang up his racket next year, nothing looks set to stop Djokovic from achieving his goal.

The Serbian superstar already has the most Grand Slam titles in the men’s game after his 24th major at the US Open. He could break another record this month by winning his seventh ATP Finals crown as he’s currently level with Federer.

It’s something that is driving Djokovic to continue battling at the very top with the next generation of stars. That winning mentality is what has been the difference for Djokovic throughout his entire career and pushed him to contend with and dominate the ‘Big Three’.

His unabashed honesty in wanting to break records is different to how Nadal has approached similar questions throughout his career. The Spaniard has often downplayed his desire to chase records in his career, claiming last year that he doesn’t “care much if I am the one or not the one, or the best of the history, not the best of the history”.

However, Djokovic appears to have taken a dig at his long-time rival while reiterating his own aspirations. “I’m going for all possible records, all that I can break,” Djokovic said.

“I’ve never had a problem saying that. And that’s why people don’t like me. I didn’t pretend like some people.. to say that it’s not my goal, and then to behave differently after… I always tried to be in line with what I believe.”
