<\/p>\nErik ten Hag won't have to worry about losing his job to Phil Neville after the former Manchester United defender was recently named MLS side Portland Timbers newest manager.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Neville was sacked by former team-mate and friend David Beckham as Inter Miami boss, robbing the world of seeing the former coach Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. However, it has not taken long for the46-year-old to find work.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Portland Timbers announced Neville has inked a contract with the Western Conference side on a multi-year deal which runs through till 2026. "I am massively excited about the challenge ahead, and from the very first moment I met the staff I knew it was the right opportunity for me, the right club for me and the right city for me,\u201d Neville told Portland's official club website.<\/p>\n

Of course, Neville's appointment now means he is officially out of the running – if he ever was in it – to be the next Interim manager at Old Trafford should ten Hag get sacked. Despite a positive campaign last term, the Dutchman has come under increased scrutiny this season, especially given United's dismal form of late.<\/p>\n

Following heavy defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle United at home, which saw ten Hag and co lose 3-0 in both games, United scrapped home to a 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend courtesy of a late Bruno Fernandes strike.<\/p>\n
However, questions still linger about ten Hag's future at the club, with performances in recent weeks having been less than inspiring. United have also been hit by a string of drama this term too. At the start of the season, their attempt to bring Mason Greenwood back into the fold at Old Trafford sparked widespread backlash from fans and domestic violence charities across the UK.<\/p>\n
