{"id":295766,"date":"2023-11-07T19:24:40","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T19:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=295766"},"modified":"2023-11-07T19:24:40","modified_gmt":"2023-11-07T19:24:40","slug":"david-beckham-returns-to-italy-to-watch-psg-and-ac-milan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/soccer\/david-beckham-returns-to-italy-to-watch-psg-and-ac-milan\/","title":{"rendered":"David Beckham returns to Italy to watch PSG and AC Milan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>David Beckham returns to Italy to watch former clubs PSG and AC Milan battle in the Champions League&#8230; but Inter Miami&#8217;s co-owner refuses to pick a winner when asked by CBS pundit Thierry Henry<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>David Beckham was in Italy on Tuesday to watch former clubs AC Milan and PSG<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Inter Miami co-owner bumped into CBS pundit Thierry Henry before kick-off<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With his Inter Miami team&#8217;s season now at a competitive end after missing out on a spot in the MLS play-offs, David Beckham is making the most of his free time in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday he was seen back at San Siro, the home of his former club AC Milan, as they played host to Paris Saint-Germain, another former Beckham employer, in the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>Although he spent the majority of his playing career at Manchester United &#8211; and after spells with Real Madrid and LA Galaxy &#8211; Beckham spent the twilight years of his famed career on loan at AC Milan and then at PSG, where he eventually retired.<\/p>\n<p>And the 48-year-old couldn&#8217;t turn down the opportunity to see them face off against each other in Italy on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Cameras picked up the Inter Miami co-owner seemingly on a FaceTime call to a loved one on the side of the pitch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/18\/77517033-12721629-image-a-4_1699380386727.jpg\" height=\"810\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>David Beckham met up with CBS pundit Thierry Henry as he watched AC Milan take on PSG<\/p>\n<p>He ushered Henry, usually seen alongside\u00a0Jamie Carragher\u00a0and Micah Richards on CBS&#8217; coverage of the leading European competition, to say hello to whoever was on the other end of the line.<\/p>\n<p>Referring to Beckham, Henry said: &#8216;The big man. In his old stadium, watching both of his teams.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After exchanging greetings, Henry pressed Beckham to predict who would win the contest between his former clubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Beckham refused to back one or the other, insisting he hoped it would be a draw as both teams look for points in their attempt to reach the knockout stages.<\/p>\n<p>Beckham made 33 appearances for AC Milan across two loan spells. The first was in January 2009 during the MLS off-season before he rejoined them a year later\u00a0as he tried to maximize his chances of making the England squad for the South Africa World Cup.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/18\/77517985-12721629-image-a-16_1699381188832.jpg\" height=\"439\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Beckham made 33 appearances for AC Milan across two loan spells while a LA Galaxy player\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/18\/77517987-12721629-image-a-18_1699381961728.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>After deciding to leave MLS, Beckham moved to PSG on a short-term contract before retiring<\/p>\n<p>Then, after winning the MLS Cup in 2012, Beckham left LA Galaxy to return to Europe and sign with PSG on a short-term contract. He made just 14 appearances before retiring at the end of the 2012-13 season.<\/p>\n<p>Now plotting Inter Miami&#8217;s path to MLS glory as their co-owner, he helped lure Lionel Messi to Florida this season and watched as they won the Leagues Cup for its first-ever trophy.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Tuesday, Beckham wished friend and former Inter Miami coach Phil Neville luck in his new position with the Portland Timbers five months after firing his long-time teammate in South Florida.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Congratulations mate and good luck,&#8217; read the Instagram caption written by Beckham.<\/p>\n<p>With Inter Miami mired in last place back in June, Neville was fired halfway through his third season as coach of Beckham&#8217;s MLS team.
