Liverpool will have to move quickly if they hope to secure Andre Trindade’s signature in January. The Brazilian midfielder is expected to leave Fluminese during the winter transfer window and the Reds are the current frontrunners to snap him up.

But they aren’t the only ones keeping a close eye on Andre. According to Brazilian outlet Globo, Arsenal and Fulham are also keen on acquiring his services.

The Gunners are in desperate need of depth in midfield after suffering several injuries in the centre of the park over the last few weeks. Andre’s phenomenal performance in the Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors last weekend has impressed multiple top European clubs – including the north Londoners, who are expected to firm up their interest ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

But if Liverpool, who have already reportedly spoken Andre, can agree on a deal with the 22-year-old before the window opens – similarly to how they did when signing in-demand forward Cody Gakpo last January – then they will be able to steal a march on his many admirers.

Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt recently admitted he expects Andre to leave the club in January. “We are waiting. Today, there is no concrete proposal for Andre,” he told Globo. “But we are sure that after the World Cup – he will play in the World Cup – a stratospheric proposal will arrive.

“It could be the biggest sale in the club’s history. We could possibly lose both (Andre and defender Nino), but we are working to replace them.”
