Liverpool train ahead of Toulouse Europa League clash

Toulouse manager Carles Martinez Novell has sent a stern warning to Liverpool ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with the Reds. Despite losing 5-1 to Jurgen Klopp’s team earlier this season, Novell believes that the atmosphere at the Stadium de Toulouse can help his side get revenge on Thursday night.

Liverpool have made a sensational start to the season following their summer transfer window reshuffle. The Merseyside outfit sit third in the Premier League and have confirmed themselves as title contenders, whilst also showing their class on the European stage.

The additions of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szobszolai and Ryan Gravenberch have breathed a new lease of life into the club, and supporters have become enthused by the prospect of a new and improved Liverpool. As such, the atmosphere at Anfield has been thunderous – though Toulouse boss Novell believes that his own supporters can replicate the noise levels.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with the Reds, the Spaniard said: “Everyone is talking about Anfield. We will remember it all our lives thanks to the atmosphere created by the Toulouse supporters.

“Tomorrow (Thursday), it will be in front of our audience. There is this feeling and this desire to transmit from the public to the players and from the players to the public. Liverpool can suffer too. They must remember the Stadium.”

Toulouse will need to improve markedly if they are to get anything from the game on Thursday night, having failed to land a blow against Liverpool last month. However, the media tactic of putting an emphasis on the atmosphere rather than pressure on the squad appears to be a growing trend among managers preparing for matches where their team will be the underdog.
