He hasn&#8217;t appeared publicly since.<\/p>\n<p>The German is cared for by a team of medical staff and his wife Corinna at their Lake Geneva home, but little has been made public about his condition.<\/p>\n<p>And Glock &#8211; who is a fellow countryman and was close friends with Schumacher &#8211; claimed it is right that his family keep his health status to themselves, despite the public clamour for updates on one of the greatest drivers of all time.<\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;I keep in contact with Mick Schumacher (Michael&#8217;s son) as he and I get along well,&#8217; he told LuckyBlock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/09\/10\/77599183-12729345-image-a-6_1699525376994.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former Formula One driver Timo Glock (pictured in 2008) has insisted the health condition of close friend and fellow countryman Michael Schumacher must be kept private<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/09\/10\/69420581-12729345-Schumacher_pictured_in_2005_hasn_t_been_seen_in_public_since_a_s-a-7_1699525428175.jpg\" height=\"469\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Schumacher (pictured in 2005) hasn&#8217;t been seen in public since a skiing accident in 2013 left him in a medically induced coma, and he is cared for by a team of medical staff and his family<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;ve also known other members of his family for a very long time, but I try not to impose on their privacy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I respect their right to be private, and I don&#8217;t discuss Michael&#8217;s condition with them.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Schumacher is one of the most successful F1 drivers of all time, having claimed the world title in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004.<\/p>\n<p>He also added 71 fastest laps and 155 podiums to his name during his iconic racing career.<\/p>\n<p>Mick Schumacher &#8211; who is Michael&#8217;s son &#8211; followed in his father&#8217;s footsteps by competing in F1 when he drove for Haas in 2021 and 2022, finishing 19th and 16th respectively.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, he was dropped for the 2023 season\u00a0in favour of veteran Nico Hulkenberg and is the current reserve driver for Mercedes.<\/p>\n<p>And Glock &#8211; who spent six seasons as an F1 driver &#8211; claimed Schumacher would have been proud of his son following in his footsteps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8216;I think Michael would have supported his son, Mick, in his career and he would&#8217;ve shown him around those F1 tracks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He was, and still is, a great supporter of his children, and he&#8217;s still a great ambassador of the sport.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Schumacher&#8217;s family remain very protective of his privacy and it is understood that many of their close friends and relations are even unsure about the state of his health.<\/p>\n<p>However, in the Netflix documentary &#8216;Schumacher&#8217;, which aired in 2021, his wife Corinna did provide a rare update.<\/p>\n<p>She revealed he continues to undergo rehabilitation for the life-changing injuries he suffered and claimed he is now &#8216;different, but here&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/09\/10\/77599259-12729345-image-a-9_1699525583940.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Glock opened up on his memories away from the track with the seven-time world champion<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/09\/10\/75109835-12729345-Herbert_also_insisted_it_will_be_tough_for_Schumacher_s_son_Mick-a-8_1699525434735.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He also insisted Schumacher would have been proud of his son Mick following in his footsteps\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And Glock reflected on his memories from the past with Schumacher, including the parties they used to throw together, and expressed his admiration for the seven-time world champion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I spent a lot of time off-track with Michael, and it didn&#8217;t matter what we did,&#8217; he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Michael kept himself to himself on the track, and he didn&#8217;t open up too much. It was, however, the opposite away from the track.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He was very open, super friendly, and a really nice guy. People thought he wasn&#8217;t!<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He is the greatest driver ever as far as I&#8217;m concerned. He was my hero.
