{"id":295990,"date":"2023-11-09T15:24:55","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T15:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=295990"},"modified":"2023-11-09T15:24:55","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T15:24:55","slug":"man-united-supporters-claim-robbie-savage-is-bitter-about-the-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/soccer\/man-united-supporters-claim-robbie-savage-is-bitter-about-the-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Man United supporters claim Robbie Savage is &apos;BITTER&apos; about the club"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Man United supporters claim Robbie Savage is &#8216;BITTER&#8217; about the club after his son Charlie left in the summer &#8211; as they fume at his defence of Marcus Rashford&#8217;s red card against Copenhagen<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Robbie Savage was on co-commentary for Man United&#8217;s defeat to Copenhagen\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Savage&#8217;s son, Charlie, left United to join Reading permanently in the summer\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8216;Wobbling&#8217; Maguire should have been taken off: Listen to It&#8217;s All Kicking Off\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Robbie Savage has been accused of being &#8216;bitter&#8217; by Manchester United supporters after his son Charlie left the club this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Savage &#8211; who came through the ranks at United but failed to make a professional appearance &#8211; was co-commentator on TNT Sports for their chaotic 4-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>United led twice, first 2-0 and then 3-2, before they succumbed to a damaging loss that leaves them clinging to their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus Rashford was sent off in the first half when Erik ten Hag&#8217;s side were 2-0 up, with the likes of Paul Scholes, Jamie Carragher and Owen Hargreaves claiming it was a terrible decision, but Savage felt it was the correct call from the referee.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His son Charlie made one appearance for United in 2021 before he\u00a0joined League One side Reading on a four-year deal in the summer in search of gametime.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/09\/14\/77606923-12730161-image-m-12_1699539894635.jpg\" height=\"391\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Man United supporters claimed Robbie Savage is &#8216;bitter&#8217; about the club after his son left<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/09\/14\/77574141-12730161-Marcus_Rashford_was_sent_off_for_his_foul_on_Elias_Jelert_during-a-10_1699539521898.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Marcus Rashford was sent off against Copenhagen, with Savage believing it was the right call<\/p>\n<p>And some United supporters felt this has clouded his judgement when working on United games, with their criticism coming to the fore after his views on Rashford&#8217;s red card.<\/p>\n<p>One said: &#8216;Anyone would think Robbie Savage was bitter about him and his son being too s*** to play for United or something. Champions League winners Hargreaves and Scholes saying it wasn\u2019t a red card in a million years.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>This was backed up by other supporters, as one user also said: &#8216;Robbie Savage sounds like a salty kid on commentary, maybe because his son got moved on now?!&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A further fan added: &#8216;Robbie Savage\u2019s kid left Old Trafford or something?&#8217; Meanwhile, another supporter sarcastically quipped: &#8216;I&#8217;m glad Robbie Savage has put United selling his son behind him. You&#8217;d think it may cloud his views as a pundit but he&#8217;s been impartial throughout.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When discussing the incident,\u00a0Savage had said on TNT Sports: &#8216;That, for me, is a red card. When you see it there, he\u2019s just gone to protect the ball, but by doing that, that\u2019s a straight red. One hundred per cent a red card.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He\u2019s gone to protect the ball, but as we can see, studs on the shin. He\u2019s gone to get his body between the opposition player and the ball, but by doing that, he\u2019s inadvertently stamped on his shin. No complaints, it\u2019s a red card.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He later added: &#8216;It was endangering an opponent.
