Raphael Dwamena, 28, has died after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch while playing in the top flight of Albania.<\/p>\n
Dwamena was playing for Egnatia in a clash with Partizani Tirana on Saturday afternoon when he collapsed in the first-half of the game. Medics attended to the player on the pitch, and he was quickly rushed to the nearest hospital in Kavaja.<\/p>\n
However, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, with Albania's FA releasing a statement: "The AFL expresses its deep shock over the tragedy that happened today in Egnatia-Partizani, where football player Raphael Dwamena lost his life.<\/p>\n

Levante said on social media: "We would like to express our sincere condolences on the passing of our former player, Raphael Dwamena.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n "Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time. His legacy at our club will live on forever. RIP." Dwamena left Levante in 2020, joining Danish side Vejle Boldklub, but they decided he couldn't play for the club due to his high ICD readings.<\/p>\n Dwamena moved to Austria with Blau-Weiss Linz, where he collapsed on the pitch during an Austrian Cup match in 2021. He was shocked by his ICD and was able to be revived.<\/p>\n Tributes has poured in for Dwamena, and the Ghanaian national team said: "Our thoughts are with the family of Raphael Dwamena at this difficult time.<\/p>\n "Raphael represented Ghana wholeheartedly and paid his dues to the country until his unfortunate passing. We will forever miss him for his dedication to the National Coarse."<\/p>\n
