<\/p>\nRoy Keane has told Everton to 'take their medicine' as the fallout from their point deduction continues.<\/p>\n
The Toffees were docked 10 points last week for breaching Premier League financial rules over a three-year period, plummeting them from 14th in the table into the relegation zone. They looked to be set for a comfortable season after a good run of form culminated in a 3-2 win at Crystal Palace before the international break.<\/p>\n
However, they are now set for a relegation battle, having only avoided the drop on the final day of last season. The punishment has been greeted with fury by Everton fans, who are planning to protest against the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Everton fans group \u2018the 1878s\u2019 have reportedly raised more than \u00a340,000 to fund protests. They are understood to be planning to fly a plane with a banner over Manchester City\u2019s clash with Liverpool on Saturday as it will be too dark during Everton\u2019s match vs Manchester United on Sunday. City are another club under financial scrutiny after being hit with 115 separate FFP charges by the Premier League.<\/p>\n
However, pundit and United icon Keane says Everton should just suck up it and quietly accept their punishment. Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast brought to you by Sky Bet, he said: \u201cCould Everton just hold their hands up and take their medicine? I know it\u2019s extreme with 10 points, but it brings a bit of closure to Everton after a difficult few years, and we all think that from a football point of view they\u2019ll still be able to stay up. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ll have enough to stay up, have got a cup game coming up, and can try and get the feel-good factor back in the club and take their medicine, have closure, move on, and learn from their past mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell admitted his club had extra motivation following their \u201cwholly disproportionate\u201d punishment. He told the club\u2019s website: \u201cThe three points from that victory may no longer be accounted for in the table \u2013 nor seven other hard-earned points amassed during this season.<\/p>\n
