<\/p>\nArsenal fans pleaded "we always believed in you" after Kai Havertz netted the winner against Brentford.<\/p>\n
The Gunners were locked in a stalemate against the Bees as it looked like Mikel Arteta's side would have to settle for a dismal draw away from home in the Premier League. His side had a goal ruled out by VAR for offside on the stroke of half time when Leandro Trossard thought he had broken the deadlock.<\/p>\n
But just as Arsenal appeared set to lose out on the chance to go top of the table with ten minutes of normal time remaining, Arteta made the decision to bring on much-criticised \u00a365million signing Havertz for Gabriel Martinelli. And the German made himself the hero in the 89th minute by nodding in a delightful in-swinging Bukayo Saka cross.<\/p>\n

As the ball came in from the right, Havertz escaped his marker and – where Gabriel Jesus had failed in the first half – beat Mark Flekken with a downward header. It was the 24-year-old's long-awaited first goal from open play for the north Londoners since his move from Chelsea, having been given a sympathy penalty by his team-mates against Bournemouth earlier in the season.<\/p>\n
And Arsenal fans on social media were delighted with Havertz's biggest contribution for the side yet – a priceless three points in their season title race.<\/p>\n

Others added: "I knew Kai Havertz was the best player in Arsenal," and: "Kai Havertz our new hero!!!!!<\/p>\n
Havertz' relief could be seen while he celebrated the goal and even after the final whistle. "It feels amazing. Today I got it [the goal] and it paid back, I am just happy I got it for the team," he told TNT.<\/p>\n

"It was a brilliant goal and brilliant pass as well. I think we train this way as a team a lot, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard love to play those balls.<\/p>\n
"It is hard work, nothing comes from itself and you have to work and have to believe. I tried to put my ego aside and the team is the important thing."<\/p>\n
Speaking about the support he has received in recent months from fans, he added:<\/i> "I am so thankful for these guys. It is hard when a new signing comes and they pay a lot of money for you. I am just thankful they keep supporting me."<\/p>\n
