TNT Sports pundit Robbie Savage slammed Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana after his nightmare moment gifted Galatasaray a way back into their Champions League clash.

United appeared in complete control of the match in Istanbul after moving into a 3-1 lead, but Onana allowed a Hakim Ziyech free-kick to squirm through his grasp and into the net to make it 3-2.

Savage could hardly believe his eyes, and immediately labelled the goal a ‘bad error’ from Onana.

As he looked at the replays, Savage continued to be unimpressed as he added: ‘He has to deal with that’.

Fellow co-commentator Rio Ferdinand was in complete agreement, and could not offer Onana an excuse as he pointed out that the shot-stopper did not have anyone in his line of sight to obstruct his view.

It was the second free-kick that Ziyech scored in the game as he brought Galatasaray back into the match in the first half after they had fallen two goals down following strikes from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

TNT Sports pundits Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves were also critical of Onana for Ziyech’s first goal.

They hit out at the goalkeeper’s decision to take a step to his left to his left which prevented him from getting back to his right when Ziyech picked out that side of the goal.

Speaking at half time about Ziyech’s first goal, Hargreaves said: ‘Onana can’t see because of the two players in front. He takes a step to the left when he probably shouldn’t. If he stays still, he probably saves it.’

Scholes added: ‘That step to the left has killed him and the goal has gone in.’

Onana’s pair of mistakes let Galatasaray back into the match and the hosts took full advantage as they drew level through substitute Kerem Akturkoglu in the 71st minute.
