Adam Lallana was irked by Chelsea players celebrating in front of him at full time as Chelsea claimed a valuable 3-2 win against Brighton on Sunday.

Chelsea held on with 10-men at Stamford Bridge to claim their fifth league win of the season after Enzo Fernandez scored his first Premier League goals since moving to the club in January.

The encounter was hard-fought between both teams, with Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher being sent off for a second bookable offence after fouling Billy Gilmour on the stroke of half time.

Tempers were then close to boiling over at full time when Chelsea players emphatically celebrated their vital victory that moves them up to 10th in the league standings, but still 10 points adrift of the top four.

Lallana can be seen trying to interrupt celebrations as injured Chelsea centre-back Wesley Fofana runs and jumps onto the back of team-mate Benoit Badiashile.

The pair are in a jubilant mood after denying Brighton a third consecutive Premier League victory against Chelsea, having done the double over them last season.

However, Lallana is in no mood to see Chelsea player’s revelling in their win and tries to pull Fofana off Badiashile, while a bloody-faced Armando Broja stands nearby.

Badiashile smiles while Lallana grabs hold, pushing the Brighton midfielder away before Levi Colwill further intervenes to try and settle the situation.

A relieved Mauricio Pochettino claimed afterwards that his side deserved to take three points in front of home supporters, but praised Brighton for making it a competitive match.

‘We deserved the victory. When you analyse the game we were very competitive. It was an important victory for us because after [the Newcastle defeat] we needed to show a different face, and the team’s response was really good,’ he said.

‘I told the players at half-time that we had a massive opportunity to show that we are a team. That was how we took the second half.

‘Yes, we talked about the way we needed to play, but the most important thing with one man less was to challenge Brighton,’ he added.
