Crisis? Not for us – Erik ten Hag can see Man Utd progress after Chelsea win

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund will have been left frustrated by his lack of service since joining the club from Atalanta this summer. But Erik ten Hag will soon be able to try a new attacking formula after receiving a timely injury boost during a crunch period of December fixtures.

Hojlund has been one of the most profilic goalscorers in European competition this season, netting five times in as many Champions League Group A games.

However, the 20-year-old has not scored in 11 Premier League appearances, contributing to United’s zero goal difference after 15 matches.

Ten Hag’s attack hasn’t clicked yet, overseeing just two wins by more than a one-goal margin this campaign, one in the league.

It’s not all Hojlund’s fault, though. The £72million striker has received minimal service from United’s wingers.

Antony has registered no assists in 15 outings this term, while Alejandro Garnacho has produced one in 20.

But United are set to have another winger to choose from, having confirmed that Amad Diallo has recovered from a knee injury that has kept him out since last season.

On Thursday, a club statement read: “Amad has returned to full training with the first-team squad as he gets back to fitness after a knee injury.”

The 21-year-old could be in contention to make his first appearance of the campaign when AFC Bournemouth visit Old Trafford on Saturday.

He had hoped to force his way into Ten Hag’s plans this season, coming off a successful loan spell at Sunderland during the Dutchman’s first year in charge.

Amad scored 15 goals to help guide the Black Cats into the Championship Play-Offs last term and was named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year.

The Ivory Coast international featured in United’s opening pre-season games and was included in the squad for the tour of the United States.
