Manchester United’s team coach was damaged as it approached Anfield for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool. Home fans surrounded United’s transport as it made its way towards the stadium, with one supporter filming themselves throwing a projectile towards the visitors’ staff and players.

The Red Devils travelled to Anfield on Sunday as firm underdogs during a torrid run of results that has left Erik ten Hag under heavy scrutiny.

United have won just one of their last five games against Chelsea earlier this month, tasting defeat against Newcastle United, AFC Bournemouth and Bayern Munich after fumbling a 3-1 lead to draw at Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, Liverpool can stay go back to the top of the Premier League table with a victory this weekend, having won all seven of their home games in the competition this season.

Supporters gathered on the streets outside Anfield to welcome both team coaches, as is tradition for big home games.

But one fan took creating a hostile environment too far, posting a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing them lobbing a glass bottle at United’s coach.

User @e9lcl posted the video captioned “Into them Liverpool” just after 3pm, almost an hour before kick-off on Merseyside.
