{"id":300004,"date":"2023-12-21T12:26:50","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T12:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=300004"},"modified":"2023-12-21T12:26:50","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T12:26:50","slug":"cricketer-is-hit-with-huge-ban-for-bizarre-reason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/%d1%81ricket\/cricketer-is-hit-with-huge-ban-for-bizarre-reason\/","title":{"rendered":"Cricketer is hit with huge ban for bizarre reason"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"withoutBlobs--dkFi0\">Watch the bizarre moment England cricketer Tom Curran runs at full speed towards an umpire as star is hit with huge ban in the Big Bash League<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tom Curran has been hit with a four-game ban\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He allegedly intimidated an umpire\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sydney Sixers are appealing the sanction\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vision of Enland all-rounder Tom Curran running towards an umpire at full speed has emerged.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Sydney Sixers will appeal the four-match ban slapped on superstar Curran after he was deemed to have intimidated of a Big Bash League match official.<\/p>\n<p>Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday announced Curran had been charged with a level-three offence under clause 2.17 in the code of conduct.<\/p>\n<p>The clause relates to &#8216;intimidation or attempted intimidation of an umpire, match referee or medical personnel whether by language or conduct (including gestures) during a match&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The charge stemmed from an incident during the warm-up before the Sixers&#8217; clash with the Hobart Hurricanes in Launceston on December 11.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/21\/09\/79207245-12889201-image-a-13_1703151553469.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>England cricketer Tom Curra has been hit with a ban for a bizarre reason<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/21\/09\/79207243-12889201-image-a-14_1703151558437.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The all-rounder allegedly intimidated an umpire during a Big Bash League match<\/p>\n<p>Curran can be seen running across the wicket during his warm up &#8211; which is not allowed prior to games.<\/p>\n<p>The official tells him to stay away and stands at the end of the wicket in an effort to stop Curran. Undeterred, the Englishman runs at full pelt towards the umpire, who is forced to move out of the way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, CA said Curran was involved in an altercation with an umpire after completing a practice bowling run-up in which he ran onto the pitch.<\/p>\n<p>He was instructed not to enter the pitch, then went to the other end to complete another practice run-up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The umpire took position next to the stumps, blocking Curran from approaching the pitch and gestured to Curran to move away from the pitch,&#8217; CA said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Curran was seen in the footage gesturing to the umpire to move away from the pitch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Curran then attempted to perform a practice run up and run at pace straight towards the umpire who stood in the bowling crease facing Curran.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The umpire stepped to his right to avoid the risk of collision.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Curran contested the charge and the matter was heard by code of conduct commissioner Adrian Anderson, who found the player guilty of the offence.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson imposed a penalty of four suspension points, resulting in a four-match ban.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/21\/09\/79207267-12889201-image-a-15_1703151618344.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Sydney Sixers say they will &#8216;vigorously&#8217; appeal against the sanction<\/p>\n<p>Sixers boss Rachael Haynes said the club will &#8216;vigorously&#8217; appeal against the sanction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Tom and the club maintain that Tom did not knowingly or intentionally intimidate a match official, and on legal advice, we will exercise our right to appeal the decision,&#8217; Haynes said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We will support Tom during this period and look forward to him returning to the field.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Curran took 3-19 from four overs as the Sixers posted a six-wicket win over the Hurricanes with four balls left.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/cricket\/article-12889201\/Cricketer-hit-huge-ban-bizarre-reason.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Watch the bizarre moment England cricketer Tom Curran runs at full speed towards an umpire as star is hit with huge ban in the Big Bash League Tom Curran has been hit with a four-game ban\u00a0 He allegedly intimidated an umpire\u00a0 Sydney Sixers are appealing the sanction\u00a0 Vision of Enland all-rounder Tom Curran running towards [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":300003,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.8 -
