Full details as WWE WrestleMania 37 venue confirmed

WrestleMania 37 will take place at the new SoFi Stadium in California in 2021, it has been confirmed.

The brand-new £4billion stadium in Los Angeles will provide an incredible backdrop for next year's WWE extravaganza.

The SoFi Stadium, which will open later this year, will act as the new home for NFL sides the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers. It'll boast a capacity of over 70,000 once building work has been completed.

However, that can be expanded for major events, meaning over 100,000 could be present for 'The Showcase of the lmmortals' in 2021.

"There is nothing quite like WrestleMania Week,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

"It is a one-of-a-kind event that provides an economic boost to the region – and fans from around the world will find a city that is ready to host them and welcomes the spectacle."

Inglewood mayor James T. Butts, has declared: "The city of Inglewood is thrilled to say that WrestleMania will add to the growing number of national and internationally followed events that will be hosted in our city over the next eight years.

"WrestleMania brings excitement and is followed by almost every age demographic. With the scheduling of this marquee event, we can say without contradiction, the only thing that has changed in Inglewood is…everything."

WWE Executive Vice President of Special Events, John Saboor, is quoted as saying: "Many of the organizations that came together to attract WrestleMania 37 to Los Angeles were the same ones that worked to bring the Super Bowl to Los Angeles.

"We now organise regularly WrestleMania in places that organized the Super Bowl about a year before or after and it is a wonderful opportunity for those regions to build plans that they can use to organize important events like WrestleMania and the Super Bowl."

"This is a great way for our city to show how we are going to be hosting these major events in the future with two areas of influence with downtown around L.A. Live and Staples Center as well as SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in Inglewood," said Kathy Schloessman, president of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission.

"Our pitch on all of our events from the Super Bowl to WrestleMania is having a two-hub hosting area with Inglewood and downtown, and we’ll see that for the first time at WrestleMania."

LA has hosted the world’s biggest wrestling show on five previous occasions, including WrestleMania II, VII, XII, 16 and 21.

Hulk Hogan was in the main event for both WrestleMania II and VII, while Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels took part in an iconic 60-minute Iron Man match at WrestleMania XII.

A four-way elimination match between Triple H, The Rock, Mick Foley and The Big Show headlined WrestleMania 16.

And the 21st edition of the greatest spectacle in sports entertainment also occurred in the area back in 2005, with John Cena and Batista claiming their maiden world titles, while Edge won the inaugural Money in the Bank ladder match.

Wrestlemania 36 takes place in Tampa, Florida this year on April 5 at the Raymond James Stadium.

Scotland’s Drew McIntyre is due to challenge Brock Lesnar for the coveted WWE Championship, at the 'Showcase of the Immortals’ after winning the Royal Rumble last month.
