In this week's WWE column I’ll give you a summary of another explosive edition of Survivor Series and the battle for brand supremacy.
The Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York was rocking as the crowd were treated to some pulsating matches, starting with the opener between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.
The traditional 5v5 elimination matches threw up the usual drama and suspense, while the titanic tussle between Big E and Roman Reigns closed the show.
The very next night on Raw, Seth Rollins was involved in a segment with Big E and Kevin Owens, before something completely unexpected took place.
What happened at Survivor Series?
This past Sunday Survivor Series saw the best superstars of Raw and SmackDown battle it out in a bid to be on the superior brand.
The show commenced in the best possible way, as Raw women’s champion Becky Lynch squared off with SmackDown women’s champion Charlotte Flair.
There is no love lost between the pair and it showed as we witnessed one of the most hard-hitting and fast-paced encounters in recent memory.
The animosity between the two iconic grapplers reached boiling point, as the pair issued savage remarks to one another both inside and outside of the ring before their match.
The pair beat the living daylights out of each other and with both so evenly matched, it ultimately came down to who was most intelligent on the night.
Big Time Becks rolled up Charlotte and managed to use the ropes for leverage without the referee noticing, and picked up a huge win.
The men’s 5v5 Survivor Series match followed, and Raw’s impressive team of Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Bobby Lashley and Austin Theory took on SmackDown’s quintet of Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, King Woods, Happy Corbin and Sheamus.
Raw were immediately on the back foot as Kevin Owens betrayed his teammates and walked away, getting himself counted and ultimately eliminated.
Corbin was the first to be removed from the match for SmackDown, and more count outs followed as Lashley and McIntyre brawled outside the ring and failed to make the ten count.
The final four saw rising star Theory and Rollins face Sheamus and Hardy, and the latter were involved in a brutal feud last year.
After Theory and Sheamus were eliminated, the number one contender for the WWE championship and the charismatic enigma battled at the end, and after Rollins counted the swanton bomb, he delivered a brutal curb stomp to secure a win for Team Raw.
The women’s elimination match saw the red brand pull off a sensational comeback to win after SmackDown’s five of Sasha Banks, Natalya, Shayna Bazler, Shotzi and Toni Storm imploded.
Bianca Belair, who began the match with teammates Liv Morgan, Queen Zelina, Carmella and Rhea Ripley, was left on her own to face four members of the opposing team.
Banks and Shotzi, who have not seen eye to eye of late, began fighting each other outside the ring, and after The Boss lost her temper with the rest of the team, they prevented her from getting in the ring, resulting in a count out and her elimination.
Despite the stiff challenge, Belair had the momentum and used her immense strength and speed to eliminate the three remaining members from team SmackDown to win the match and secure another win for Raw.
Raw tag team champions RK-Bro added another win for the Monday night show when they secured a win against the SmackDown tag champs, The Usos.
Orton delivered a trademark RKO in mid-air to seal an impressive win. Could Roman Reigns end the night on a high for team blue?
As has been the case for over a year now, the Tribal Chief delivered in a big way in his match with Big E.
The physical match saw the two premier champions go back and forth in the main event in an effort to showcase who the top champion really is.
After a devastating spear, Reigns would pin his opponent and raise his title above his head with pride as the show drew to a close.
In other matches, US champion Damien Priest saw red and smashed opponent and Intercontinental champion Shinsuke Nakamura with Rick Boogs’ guitar and was disqualified, while Omos dominated the SmackDown vs Raw battle royal, last eliminating Ricochet to win.
Seth Rollins attacked live on Raw!
Seth Rollins was on a high after being the sole survivor in the elimination match at Survivor Series, but just 24 hours later, he endured a completely different experience.
Rollins was heading back up the entrance way following a scuffle with Finn Balor and Big E.
But just as he got to the top of the ramp, a fan charged at him from the side and seemingly speared him to the floor.
The security and referees from the back tried to apprehend the man, who was later seen being escorted out of the arena.
Once Rollins had managed to free himself from the man, he can be heard shouting “you want to blind side me, motherf****r?” while the crowd chanted “f**k him up”.
A WWE spokesman said at the time of the incident: “WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously.
“The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
