Broncos safety Kareem Jackson fined after high hit vs. Commanders

Broncos safety Kareem Jackson was fined $19,669 by the NFL for his high hit on Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas in Week 2.

Jackson was penalized and ejected after he delivered a hit on Thomas as he corralled a 4-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sam Howell with under two minutes remaining in the half.

Thomas did not return due to a concussion and will miss the Commanders’ matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Even though Jackson avoided suspension, this is the second straight week he has been fined by the league. Jackson was fined $14,819 after a high hit on Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers in the fourth quarter of Week 1. Jackson was flagged for unnecessary roughness while Meyers suffered a concussion that caused him to miss last week’s loss to the Bills.

Outside linebacker Nik Bonitto was also fined $7,326 for his face mask penalty that negated a sack in the second.

Washington elevated for Sunday

The Broncos announced Saturday that running back Dwayne Washington has been elevated from the practice squad to the game day roster ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Washington, who spent five seasons with the New Orleans Saints, played in 18 snaps on special teams last week against the Commanders. None on offense.

Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (concussion) will not play Sunday. Waddle entered concussion protocol after a helmet-to-helmet hit in Miami’s win over the New England Patriots last week. The star wide receiver was listed as a limited participant at practice on Friday after being sidelined on Wednesday and Thursday.
