England Wembley tickets sold out before being made public for first time ever

Tickets for England vs Brazil were sold out before they were even released to the general public.

As part of their final friendly fixtures before the 2024 European Championships, Gareth Southgate's side will take on the five-time World Cup winners on March 23. England will then face Belgium three days after their match against the Samba stars.

It will be the fourth time the Three Lions have faced the South American juggernauts at Wembley since it was reconstructed in 2007. Despite the fact England have faced Brazil several times, the appetite to watch Southgate's men in action against the iconic football nation remains high.

For the first time in the country's history, tickets for the match were all sold before 24 hours had even passed. They did not even manage to make it to the general sale, before they were poached online.

Tickets were all bought by members of the 'My England Football supporters club,' eight hours after they were released. It's the first time this has happened since the iconic stadium was re-opened in 2007.

It will be the penultimate friendly for England before they travel to Germany for Euro 2024. Considering the Three Lions' record of beating the higher ranked nations, it will be the perfect preparation for their campaign. "I am happy to have two strong matches in March as we build towards the Euro finals," Southgate said soon after the friendlies were announced.

"It is important we take every opportunity to test ourselves against top opposition. Before then, we have our last qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia coming up."

England went on to top their group by winning six and drawing two of their home and away clashes against Italy, Ukraine, Malta and North Macedonia. While their performances against the latter two left plenty to be desired, the Three Lions managed to secure a place as one of the No1 seeds in the competition.

They joined Germany, France, Portugal, Spain and Belgium in pot one.
