Everton stunned the Premier League masses by beating Newcastle 3-0 – and Jordan Pickford savoured every second.
The England international is often a loud and divisive figure between the posts, never more so than when his team is in a winning position. And three goals in the space of 17 minutes gave the former Sunderland star plenty of reason to revel during Thursday's shock result at Goodison Park.
Three points were enough to lift the Toffees outside the relegation zone for the first time since being docked 10 points for breaching FFP laws. And despite Newcastle still being 10 places better off in the table, Sean Dyche's No1 made sure to let the Magpies know who was on top in the midweek clash.

The 29-year-old made straight for the away end when Dwight McNeil powered home a decisive breakthrough, knee-sliding towards their corner as he got in on the celebrations. One Newcastle fan can be heard bemoaning Pickford's actions in one clip of the incident, but the worst was yet to come.
That's after the 58-cap stopper followed up with an even more disrespectful bras d'honneur (arm of honour), slapping one of his hands on the opposite bicep as he pumped in the visitors' direction. The motion is more commonly seen on Europe's mainland but widely translates to mean "f*** you" across the continent.

It's hardly the first time Pickford has acted up while not being directly involved in the action, and one fan described the back-and-forth between him and the Magpies as "a wonderful pantomime." Other compliments aimed at Pickford included "top wind-up merchant" and "absolute legend."
The Everton star did have a more direct influence in the shenanigans as well, laughing to his home supporters while dragging out certain plays in injury time. One example was particularly egregious as he drew applause for going to ground following a catch that certainly didn't require it.

One can hardly blame Pickford for being excited as he clinched a first win over the Tynesiders since December 2019. The keeper never managed to line up against the northeast outfit while on the books with boyhood club Sunderland but made up for lost time on Thursday.
The mental warfare wasn't restricted to the 90 minutes, either, as Pickford had to be prised from his opponents following a furore after the full-time whistle. Both Everton and Newcastle's seasons could go in a multitude of directions in the months to come, but one thing for certain is Pickford faces a hostile welcome when Everton travel to St. James' Park on April 3.
