Tyson Fury and Usyk embrace hours before Gypsy King fights Francis Ngannou

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk shared a huge hug in Saudi Arabia just hours before the Gypsy King’s crossover boxing clash with Francis Ngannou.

The Ukrainian made the trip to Saudi to watch his rival fight from ringside on Saturday night. Fury and Usyk – who share all of the heavyweight titles between them – have exchanged bitter words in the past ahead of a highly-anticipated unification bout.

They finally agreed to fight on December 23, with the potential of it being moved to Spring 2024. And the two heavyweight titans came face to face for the first time since the agreement on Friday – though their meeting was surprisingly amicable given their upcoming showdown.

Viral footage circulating on social media shows the moment the pair came face to face. There was no sign of bad blood as they embraced, leaving onlookers hoping for a spicy back and forth bitterly disappointed.

The Ukrainian, who holds three of the heavyweight belts, even lifted up Fury, before having his pecs rubbed affectionately by the Brit. It was not the first time they have met, however, with the champions squaring off after Fury’s win over Derek Chisora last December.

Fury called Usyk a "15st little m*****” and a “p***y” on that occasion, before adding: "You ugly little man, you ugly little man, let's get it on; You may laugh, but I will end you."

In March, Fury ranted in an Instagram video: “I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m f***ing ready to rock and roll. Usyk you gappy teeth, ugly, bug-eyed rabbit cat, ugly piece of s***, you are getting knocked the f*** out."

It appears tensions have cooled for the time being since coming to a contract agreement. And Usyk will even be cheering on his rival against Ngannou, having sent the ex-UFC champion a clear message ahead of the bout.

On Instagram, Usyk wrote: "Francis, be careful with Tyson, I need him in the ring on December 23."
