Only 13 days after he swept home from the back to trounce a class 1 field at Newcastle emerging four-year-old Rematch is primed to win again at Monday’s feature Muswellbrook meeting.

The latest of the Real Impact stock from the Paul Messara base at Scone, Rematch is poised to head to town if he continues on his winning way in a BM66 over 1500m.

The gelding, cutely named being out of a mare by Cross Court, has only missed a place once in five starts, launched with a dominant maiden win on debut at Tamworth back in late February.

Unluckily beaten by a whisker in two subsequent runs, Rematch was spelled through late autumn and all of winter, only resuming a month ago when he failed to let down as an easing favourite in a class 2 at Scone.

But he bounced back 18 days later over 1300m at the provincials, ridden from the back before cutting loose with a barnstorming finish. Now he tackles a more than handy country grade, but given he is bred to easily run out a strong mile and beyond, the 1500m looks right up his alley, especially with red-hot jockey Aaron Bullock back in the saddle.

Almost like clockwork, today’s Muswellbrook card threatens to be another lucrative haul for the Raging Bull after piloting a race-to-race double on Whodat and Peace Officer at Randwick on Saturday.

In the race after, he jumps aboard improving Wyong four-year-old Oakfield Eagle who looks a serious chance third-up in a maiden over 1500m.

Bullock also rides one of the main chances, Sightseer, for Gosford trainer Greg McFarlane in a class 1 handicap over 1000m before rounding out the day aboard Warwick Farm six-year-old Appetite For Risk in an open BM58.
