Saints QB Derek Carr ruled out vs. Packers due to shoulder injury

Saints quarterback Derek Carr was ruled out for Sunday’s 18-17 loss against the Packers due to a shoulder injury sustained on a second-half sack by linebacker Rashan Gary.

Carr was slow to get up after the play. He was able to walk off the field and later went to the locker room after being evaluated in the medical tent. Jameis Winston took over under center for the Saints.

Carr underwent X-rays on his shoulder at the stadium, and he is now being taken to a local hospital to run additional tests, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources. The hospital will check for internal injuries, as well, per Rapoport.

The QB was 13 of 18 for 103 yards and an 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jimmy Graham before exiting the game with New Orleans up 17-0. The Saints would not score again, as Green Bay took advantage of Carr’s absence to put up 18 unanswered and steal a victory.

Around The NFL will have more on Carr’s injury shortly.
