Lewis Hamilton commits to Mercedes until 2025
Max Verstappen extended his Grand Prix win streak to three on Sunday, coming out on top at Circuit of the Americas. Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz were credited with the next two podium spots after Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified by the FIA following post-race inspections on their cars.
Hamilton was not far behind Verstappen when they took the chequered flag in Austin, but the skid on the bottom of his Mercedes had worn away to the extent that it no longer complied with F1 regulations.
The same fate met Leclerc, who had his P6 finish rescinded in the aftermath of the race. There is little time for the duo to dwell on their misfortune, however, as the Mexican Grand Prix is just around the corner, serving as the next instalment in a gripping triple-header.

Red Bull prepare to wield axe
Red Bull are set to take a chainsaw to their junior driver ranks, with reports indicating that four prospects will be axed next season.
According to Viaplay Sport, only Isack Hadjar and Pepe Marti will be sporting the team’s livery in Formula 2 from 2024 onwards.
That leaves Dennis Hauger, Zane Maloney, Enzo Fittipaldi and Jak Crawford without backing from the reigning F1 world champions.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner teased the changes earlier this year, admitting that he and advisor Helmut Marko needed to ‘thin out’ their crop of talent.
McLaren rub salt in Hamilton’s wounds
McLaren celebrated the news of Lewis Hamilton’s United States GP disqualification by posting a meme of Lando Norris on X.
Hamilton rose through the F1 ranks with McLaren as a youngster, but beat Norris to P2 in Austin on Sunday.
However, a post-race issue with the Mercedes star’s floor saw Norris promoted to second place.
Alongside McLaren’s social media post, Norris himself uploaded a photo of his P3 trophy comically amended, captioned: “A nice little 100th GP gift.”
