Newcastle are fast becoming one of football's strongest clubs, so it's little wonder Adidas want to pop them into their Elite category.
The German kit manufacturers sponsor some of the biggest teams in the world including Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid, and like most major brands they provide different levels of sponsorship to different teams. The top clubs typically receive Adidas' Elite package, though they also offer Premium (second-tier), Standard (third-tier), 3rd Party (fourth-tier), and No Direct Contract packages.
Essentially, the higher the tier the more kit-related perks the club will receive. For example, Elite teams are provided with 'lifestyler' kits and long-sleeve away strips, while any team below Premium will only have their kits marketed nationally rather than globally.

Back in September, Newcastle agreed a multi-year partnership with Adidas, who will replace Castore as the club's kit-makers from next season, and it's understood they will be included in the company's Elite club category.
They'll be joining fellow Premier League sides Man United and Arsenal in the bracket, as well as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus and Flamengo. Real Madrid, Bayern, Arsenal and United are top of Adidas' current ranking, though it might not take Newcastle long to challenge them given their continuing reputational surge following their Saudi-led takeover in 2021.
