Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed goalkeeper Alisson could return to the Reds squad for the trip to Crystal Palace – claiming the Brazilian ‘looks good’ after heading back to training.

Alisson has been missing for Liverpool for the last three games after suffering a hamstring problem towards the end of their 1-1 draw against Man City last month.

Caoimhin Kelleher has deputised in his place for the last three games – registering two clean sheets against LASK in a 4-0 Europa League win and a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United – but he did let in three during a 4-3 win over Fulham.

While Klopp will have been happy to see his deputy performing well in his absence, he spoke with encouragement about Alisson’s possible comeback – but said he was unsure if he’d be able to make the starting XI against the Eagles.

‘Allison looks good, I don’t know if good enough for tomorrow. He trained yesterday,’ he told the press ahead of the game.

However, the outlook on Alexis Mac Allister was less optimistic after he came off on the hour mark during Liverpool’s win over the Blades last time out.

‘Macca doesn’t look good, we have to see day by day. They were pretty hopeful after the game it’s not that serious. I don’t expect him to be ready for tomorrow. It’s touch and go, we have to see.’

It comes with Klopp already facing a spate of injuries. Joel Matip is out with an ACL blow, while Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are also missing.

Klopp added: ‘Most teams are only two injuries away from a real problem.’

Speaking on Matip, Klopp said the centre-back would be ‘supported’ by the club through his injury after it was reported he could be out until the end of the season.

He also said there was a possibility and he could be given a new deal. His current contract expires next summer.

‘I’m pretty sure the club will show their class. I’m sure they told him whatever happens now we have to make the decision with Joel, he deserves all the support from us and he will get it.

‘I would say so [chance of a new deal] but it’s not my decision. I cannot sign the paper.’
