Arsenal have dream next two signings as Arteta looks to build unstoppable attack

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is always looking to strengthen his squad and attack is set to be the next area of priority. Ivan Toney and Pedro Neto are two top targets as the Gunners look to build an unstoppable front line to spearhead their challenge for major trophies.

Arsenal spent around £210million in the summer transfer window. Declan Rice was the biggest signing at a club-record £105m from West Ham.

Arteta also splashed out £65m on Kai Havertz, with the intention to play him in midfield, as well as up to £38m on versatile Dutch defender Jurrien Timber. A goalkeeper was also recruited, with David Raya arriving on an initial loan from Brentford.

Attack was neglected as Arteta focused on adding depth in other areas of the pitch. But that looks set to change in the coming windows.

Arsenal want to sign a striker and Brentford ace Toney has emerged as their No 1 target. The banned star will be allowed to play again from January 16 next year after an eight-month suspension for breaching FA betting regulations.

Brentford will not stand in Toney’s way if their asking price is met. But Arteta is not content to just add the 27-year-old.

The Mirror claims interest still remains in Wolves star Neto, who has started the season on fire. The 23-year-old now appears back to his best following knee and ankle injuries which have restricted him to just 32 Premier League appearances in the last two campaigns.

Neto has one goal and four assists in seven matches this term after failing to register a goal contribution last season. Arsenal were interested in the summer of 2022 but Wolves’ hefty asking price put them off.

He still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, so Wolves are in a strong bargaining position. But if Arsenal could pull off the signings of both Neto and Toney, they would have an attack to be feared.

Neither Eddie Nketiah nor Gabriel Jesus have nailed down the No 9 role this season. Nketiah has not scored in his last five matches, while Jesus has had to play out wide of late due to injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Toney would add physicality to the Arsenal frontline as well as a goalscoring record which belittles that of Nketiah and Jesus. He has scored 32 league goals in his last two full seasons, compared to nine for Nketiah and 19 for Jesus.

Neto, meanwhile, would finally provide an alternative option to Bukayo Saka on the right of attack. Arsenal have been looking for someone who can step into Saka’s shoes when needed for several windows and the Portuguese operates best in that position.

He is versatile and can play on the other wing too to provide competition to Martinelli and Trossard. Options are what Arteta wants and the signings of Toney and Neto would increase the quality, too.
