Arsenal could soon be announcing a new contract for captain Martin Odegaard, according to reports. It is claimed the Norway international is likely to sign a long-term deal to extend his stay at the Emirates in another major boost to Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal have had several contract renewals already in 2023. Aaron Ramsdale and Reiss Nelson are two players to have put pen to paper on new deals.
However, extensions for Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba were the Gunners’ main aims for this year. All three have been tied down and are set to play pivotal roles in the years to come.
Odegaard can without doubt be put in the same category as the above trio as one of Arsenal’s most important players. His contract is set to expire in 2025, although there is an option to extend it for another year.

Arsenal, though, are keen to make the deal longer as well as reward Odegaard for his on-field performances. Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside that talks are set to be held in the coming weeks in order to thrash out a new contract.
Romano says that Odegaard is ‘in love’ with Arsenal and the feeling is mutual on the club’s side. He is expected to sign a long-term deal with an increased salary.
There is no interest from elsewhere in Odegaard as it is known that he is happy at the Emirates. The 24-year-old has again started this season in fine form.

He has two goals in the opening four Premier League matches of the campaign to add to the impressive tally of 15 that he reached in the top flight last term. Odegaard has been captain for just over a year and came close to leading Arsenal to their first title in 19 years in May.
He is currently on international duty and helped Norway beat Jordan 6-0 on Thursday. Ahead of that match, he revealed it took time for him to get over the disappointment of how last season ended at club level.
Odegaard told TV2: “The whole ending, first with the club and then with the national team, was difficult. I had a good season, a lot of good things happened, but when you finish like that, it becomes extra heavy.
“I felt I was very tired after the season. I needed a break, needed to disconnect and do completely different things. The sum of both the club season and what happened here made it an even more tired body and a tired head that needed a holiday.”
