Former Netherlands forward Bas Dost collapsed on the pitch during an Eredivisie fixture, resulting in the game being suspended.
The NEC Nijmegen star collapsed in the centre circle during the closing stages of the fixture against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday. AZ defender David Moller Wolfe went over to check on Dost before hurriedly calling for the physios to treat the veteran.
Players from both sides were left visibly distressed as they huddled around the 34-year-old to give him privacy. Paramedics rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance while the referee stopped the game, which was later suspended.

Fortunately, both Nijmegen and AZ have already confirmed that Dost is now conscious. And the Dutchman was even able to send a reassuring message by holding his arm up while his name was chanted around the AFAS Stadion.
Nijmegen’s official account wrote on social media: "Bas Dost is conscious and is taken off the field. The match has been stopped."
AZ also offered a positive update, writing on X: "Bas Dost is fortunately conscious. Wishing you a lot of recovery and strength, Bas."
The game was called off with NEC just minutes away from defeating the Dutch giants 2-1 away from home. But the fixture will now be completed at a later date.
Dost had scored two goals so far this season before notching his third for the visitors against AZ prior to his health scare. He has represented the Dutch national team 18 times in the past, scoring one goal and registering three assists.
