A non-league fixture descended into chaos as a full-scale brawl erupted.
Avro suffered a 2-1 defeat to Runcorn Linnets in Sunday’s Northern Premier League Division One West fixture. But the result was overshadowed by ugly scenes mid-way through the second-half, which resulted in four sending offs.
Tempers flared on the hour mark between Avro forward Louis Potts and Runcorn defender Anthony Kay. The pair had to be restrained by team-mates as they attempted to land blows on one another.

In footage shared on social media, members of Avro’s coaching staff could then be seen running towards Runcorn no.5 Kay. One coach even threw punches, which appeared to miss, before being held back.
Kay was chased again by Potts as the melee drifted into the penalty area, with the striker throwing a punch before his opponent fell to the turf. And it took some time for all parties to be pulled apart before the referee sent off both culprits.

That was not the end of the drama, however, with another fracas unfolding as the two red carded players headed towards the changing rooms. Both head coaches – Billy Paynter of Runcorn and Alex Frost of Avro – were also sent off.
But they appeared to iron things out almost immediately. The pair were all smiles as they shared a pint together once the match eventually got underway again.
It continued to be a high-tempo and end-to-end affair, with both teams creating chances. Yet it was visitors Runcorn who grabbed the winner in injury time thanks to Will Saxon’s effort.
