Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says Mauricio Pochettino ‘must know something’ after claiming Nicolas Jackson could become one of the greatest strikers in the Premier League. The Senegal international got off the mark by netting his first competitive goal for the Blues in the 3-0 demolition of Luton Town on Friday night at Stamford Bridge.
Jackson had huffed and puffed but finally got the goal his hard-working performances warranted when he poked home a third for the hosts in the second half.
The summer signing has made a huge impression since arriving from Villarreal and now there is optimism he could really take off in the Premier League.
Proud boss Pochettino said of his striker after the triumph: “It’s really, really important [Jackson scored his first goal] because he is a young player and of course came from a different league.
“To adapt to the Premier League is always difficult but the quality is there.

“We don’t need to ask him to run or press in the phase where we don’t have the ball because this is his quality.
“The quality is amazing with his feet, to run with the ball and to score goals. It was only a matter of time.
“There is no doubt that he can be one of the greatest strikers in the Premier League, no doubt.”
Hasselbaink said in response to Pochettino’s comments: “It’s a big statement, Mauricio Pochettino must know something.

“He sees him everyday and he sees how he is in his drills.
“He’s got potential. Today in the second half, he had too many turnovers for me but he took his goal magnificently.
“That’s where I want to see him more, in the heart of the box. In the middle of the goal and making movements there.
“He was in the right place and he put it away very well.”
Raheem Sterling also netted twice as he continued his fine early-season form for the Blues, who collected their first win of the Premier League season.
Sterling netted a brilliant opener when he danced his way through the Luton defence before slotting the ball into the corner with his weaker foot.
He then added a second after the interval before teeing up partner in crime Jackson for his first Blues goal.
