Chelsea have reportedly been handed Premier League approval for Infinite Athlete to become their new front-of-shirt sponsor.

It was reported last month that the club had agreed a deal worth around £40m-per-season with the US based sports data company.

The Blues had been looking for a new partner after their deal with Three expired, and they raised eyebrows by launching a bare-looking kit without a front-of-shirt sponsor.

Chelsea, who have endured a miserable start to the season under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, have played their opening six Premier League games without a sponsor.

But The Telegraph have now reported that Premier League approval has been granted, and that while Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Brighton is too soon, the updated kit with the sponsor could be on show in Monday’s Premier League clash with Fulham.

Chelsea have started the Premier League season without a front-of-shirt sponsor

It is not yet known how long the deal with Infinite Athlete will run. The Telegraph claim that their front-of-shirt sponsor this season will lead to the partnership ‘taking on a different form’ in 2024-25.

Chelsea have also reportedly met with Saudi airline Riyadh Air over potential sponsorship opportunities.

Infinite Athlete has plans to become a major player in world football – supplying affordable player data to clubs and allowing fans to watch games from multiple camera angles.

In Chelsea’s case, new boss Pochettino and his staff will have the cutting edge AI player data they require to help manage their squad.

For fans, it means they will also be able to see the same stats in an app, while streaming a match and view it as if they were standing with friends on The Shed end or Matthew Harding stand.

Infinite Athlete, the parent company of another Chelsea partner Tempus Ex, already has huge sponsorship deals with the NFL and the US Collegiate Pac-12 Conference. They initially partnered with Chelsea earlier this year.

The rolling contract with Chelsea marks their first step into the Premier League, much to the delight of new Chelsea FC Chief Executive Officer, Chris Jurasek.
