David Beckham was left a ‘very proud’ co-owner after his Inter Miami side booked its spot in the US Open Cup final Wednesday night.
The Herons accomplished a stunning comeback, sparked by Lionel Messi, to beat FC Cincinnati on penalties in the semifinal Wednesday night to set up a final showdown against Houston Dynamo.
Beckham, a co-owner in the MLS franchise, was not in attendance at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati to witness his team progress to their second final this season.
However, the former England captain made sure to congratulate the boys in pink on social media following their victory.
The former Manchester United star shared a photo of Messi and co. celebrating their triumph, along with the caption: ‘Another great night in pink. A great performance from the team to reach another final. @intermiamicf very proud.’

Cincinnati had cruised into a 2-0 lead after Luciano Acosta opened the scoring for the MLS leaders before Brandon Vazquez doubled the lead minutes into the second half.
But Messi inspired the comeback for Miami as he provided both assists for Leonardo Campana with the second coming in the form an unbelievable ball into the box in the 97th minute to force extra time.
Miami took the lead for the first time when Josef Martínez scored three minutes into the first extra period, but Cincinnati equalized when Yuya Kubo scored in the 114th minute, forcing penalties – Miami’s second shootout in a week.
Drake Callender saved Nick Hagglund’s attempt in the fifth round before 18-year-old Benjamin Cremaschi stepped up to slot the winning penalty home.
The final will mark Miami’s second chance at silverware this season after it lifted its first-ever trophy Saturday night in the Leagues Cup final against Nashville in Music City.
Beckham had been a regular feature throughout Miami’s run to the Leagues Cup final and shared an emotional on-field moment with wife Victoria after his team clinched the title.

They shared a touching embrace, which came after five difficult seasons in Miami as the club has struggled to get out of the MLS basement.
They had attended the game with son Cruz, 18, and daughter Harper, 12, and the family enjoyed a day exploring Nashville the following day.
Harper also had her own shining moment throughout the tournament, walking out with Messi ahead of Miami’s 4-0 win over Charlotte in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup.
