Erik ten Hag claimed he is a fighter who is up for the scrap to save his job at Manchester United.
The Old Trafford boss watched his side be humiliated as Newcastle dumped them out of the Carabao Cup last night. The Magpies handed them back-to-back 3-0 defeats after a Manchester derby drubbing on Sunday by City.
Ten Hag said: "I am a fighter and I know it is not always going up and we have a lot of setbacks this season. But also you have to deal with it and that is never an excuse, I have said that before I know when there are setbacks the routines are not the same but even then you have to get results.

"I understand it when the results are not there it is also a logical process, there are questions but I am confident. I did it at all my clubs and also last year here but at this moment we are in a bad place. I take responsibility for it. I am a fighter."
Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock got the goals to give Newcastle their biggest win at Old Trafford for 93 years and booked the Magpies a quarter-final spot. United were left humiliated on their own patch as they lost five of their first 10 home games for the first time since 1930.

Ten Hag added: "We don’t give the performance and I feel sorry for the fans, it is below our standards and we have to put it right."
This was also the first time Eddie Howe has won at Old Trafford as Newcastle got their biggest win here in 93 years. Howe said: "I personally have always found it a difficult ground and Newcastle the same so another thing to be really proud of the commitment shown by everyone."
