Mauricio Pochettino “angry and disappointed” after Chelsea lose 4-1 at Newcastle.
Mykhaylo Mudryk could be set to fall down the pecking order at Chelsea if Mauricio Pochettino brings in another winger during the January transfer window. The Ukraine international has shown glimpses of promise but is struggling with the weight of his £88.5million price tag, prompting conversations about whether the Blues could be tempted to cut their losses on the wide man. Express Sport takes a look at five stars linked with a move to Stamford Bridge that could push Mudryk out of the door…
Rafael Leao (AC Milan)
Having failed to strike a deal for Rafael Leao previously, Chelsea have been linked with reigniting that interest after it emerged that he is growing restless at the San Siro. The Portugal international shone last season and a change of scenery could help him re-find that form, whilst also providing Pochettino with a ready-made left-winger.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli)
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the past 12 months, with Manchester City and Newcastle both monitoring his situation closely. Chelsea have since joined the race to sign the Georgia international, with their optimism fuelled by his prolonged contract extension negotiations with Napoli. Kvaratskhelia would be a pricier acquisition than Mudryk was, and instantly become one of Pochettino’s stalwarts as a result.

Assane Diao (Real Betis)
Real Betis star Assane Diao has emerged as a Chelsea target in recent weeks, with Brentford also battling to secure his signature. The 18-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to the season with two goals in seven La Liga appearances, and if was able to perform at that level in the Premier League then Mudryk would need to significantly improve to avoid being dropped on a regular basis.
Antonio Nusa (Club Brugge)
Norway international Antonio Nusa was the subject of a bid from the Blues over the summer, and it would be no surprise if their interest in the 18-year-old was reignited in the January transfer window. The Club Brugge star is a highly-regarded talent and his potential could prompt Chelsea to invest funds and time into his development, at the expense of other youngsters.

Roony Bardghji (FC Copenhagen)
Countless top clubs around Europe are monitoring Roony Bardghji’s development closely, including Chelsea. The teenager’s late goal against Manchester United only highlighted his talent further and a bidding war for the Swedish Under-21s star is anticipated. Although Pochettino has plenty of young wingers to work with already, the opportunity to sign Bardghji may be too good to pass up on – especially as it prevents Premier League rivals from acquiring his services.
